About Lorin Burke

Lorin Burke is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with over a decade of experience providing individual therapy across community mental health, outpatient, and integrated care settings. She specializes in maternal and perinatal mental health, supporting individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, pregnancy loss, and the transition to parenthood, along with trauma-informed care for survivors of childhood trauma and domestic violence.

Lorin has extensive experience with women, parents, caregivers, and families, helping clients strengthen coping skills, improve relationships, establish healthy boundaries, and reconnect with their sense of identity. She also supports people experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, and parenting stress. She holds a particular commitment to Black mothers, whose pain is so often dismissed or minimized. Clients describe her as warm, compassionate, and genuine, and say they feel safe, heard, and accepted without judgment. She balances empathy with honesty, validating what her clients are carrying while encouraging them to grow.

Her approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and strengths-based, drawing on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, mindfulness, and attachment-based interventions. Lorin strives to create a space where people know they do not have to carry life's challenges alone, and where lasting change is possible.

The personal

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long day? After a long day, I love unwinding with my family, sharing laughs and meaningful conversations, and sometimes treating myself to a little shopping.

What’s a small joy that never fails to make you smile? A small joy that never fails to make me smile is laughing with my family—those little everyday moments of connection mean everything to me.

What’s your go-to comfort show, podcast, or book? My go-to comfort shows are This Is Us and American Horror Story—which probably says a lot about my range! I love a heartfelt, emotional story just as much as I enjoy something dark, suspenseful, and completely unpredictable.

What’s a parenting mantra or quote you love? “We have to be bigger, stronger, wiser, and kind—but we have to be supported first. I believe true change happens in the context of a safe and supportive relationship, because we were never meant to heal alone.”

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you? One thing most people don’t know about me is that I’m also an author! I’ve written around nine books, all available on Amazon. You can find them by searching my name, Lorin Burke.

Coffee order, tea ritual, or favorite snack? Life Savers Gummies are my go-to snack. Give me a bag of those, and I’m happy!

If you had a whole afternoon to yourself, how would you spend it? If I had a whole afternoon to myself, I’d spend it shopping, enjoying a good meal, and just taking my time. I love those rare moments when I can slow down, wander a little, and enjoy being in my own company.
