About This Resource

A thought arrives out of nowhere. An image of something terrible happening to your baby, or of you being the one who causes harm. It horrifies you, so you keep it to yourself, certain you are the only one, afraid of what it might say about you.

These are scary, intrusive thoughts, and they are far more common in new parents than anyone talks about. Having them does not mean you want them to happen, and it does not mean you are a danger to your child. So often, the very fact that the thought distresses you this much reflects how much you love your child.

In this workshop, Erica Djossa and Dr. Ashurina Ream help you understand what intrusive thoughts are, why they show up, and the skills that actually loosen their grip, from grounding your body to gently challenging the thought.
