Emily Horton, a Licensed Professional Counselor, believes therapy offers a unique space not only for healing past wounds but also for personal growth, fostering stronger relationships with loved ones.
Emily is passionate about supporting individuals and couples through the pregnancy and postpartum period. She offers a compassionate space for those navigating postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, birth trauma, perinatal loss, and other challenges that can arise during this transformative time. Beyond her work with new and expectant parents, Emily has extensive experience and a genuine passion for working with children and adolescents. She believes that play is a child’s natural language and utilizes her specialized training as a Registered Play Therapist to support the well-being of both the child and their family.
Emily's dedication to mental health began at 18, working with mothers and babies in a residential treatment center. This early experience ignited her passion for maternal and familial mental health, which has been a driving force throughout her career. She earned her master’s degree in counseling from West Virginia University in 2019 and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2021.
In addition to her clinical work, Emily is committed to shaping the future of counseling as a professor in Houston, where she trains and supervises the next generation of mental health professionals
