Complete Our Onboarding Process

The process starts with completing our online onboarding form used to assess your needs and determine the right fit for you.

Once your onboarding is complete, you’ll book your first session. Needs vary, but the recommended average course of therapy is between 6-10 sessions.

3.

Maintain Ongoing Support

At Momwell we believe in lasting care relationships. Even after your initial course of therapy is complete, feel free to reach out for additional sessions whenever you need.

PhD level

Registered psychologists

Masters level

Psychotherapists, counselors, and social workers

Are typically master-level therapists who provide therapy with clients and do not diagnose.

Understanding therapist qualifications

What is the difference in therapist designations?

Our team is made up of registered psychologists, psychotherapists, licensed mental health counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, and clinical social workers.

Registered psychologists or PhD level therapists have a doctorate degree and can assess and diagnose, and provide therapy.

Psychotherapists, counselors, and social workers are typically master-level therapists who provide therapy with clients and do not diagnose.

Momwell therapists provide talk therapy and assessment. They do not prescribe or manage medication. If medication is part of your care, we’ll help you coordinate with your physician or prescriber.

*Our therapists also do not write letters for court or other legal matters.

FAQs

How do I pay?

Cash Pay Sessions: You will be required to add valid payment to your account before your first therapy session. Payment will be processed at the end of each session using the card on file and an invoice will be emailed.

Insurance Sessions: Momwell bills insurance providers directly through third party billing with Headway. Before your first official therapy session you will be required to add a valid payment to your Headway account to cover any co-pays, coinsurance or deductible amounts as well as any cancellation fees that may be incurred.

Do you bill insurance?

Momwell is in-network with most large insurance providers: Aetna, Anthem, Bluecross Blueshield, Capital Bluecross, Oscar, Oxford, and United Healthcare.

Insurance services vary from state to state. Want to know if we accept your insurance plan? Get started today and our care team will help you navigate your insurance coverage for Momwell services.

If we are not in network in your state, our team is happy to offer cash-pay services at competitive rates. We also provide you with a superbill, a detailed document with all the necessary information to submit to your provider for out-of-network benefit reimbursement should your insurance approve that service option.

Does my insurance cover virtual therapy?

Each person’s insurance or benefits coverage is different and therefore we can’t make any guarantees that virtual therapy services are covered. We always recommend calling your insurance provider to ask:

  • What mental health professionals you are covered to see? (Psychologists? Psychotherapists? Social workers?)
  • What amount you are covered for each year?
  • What percentage is covered each visit?
  • Are virtual therapy services covered under your plan?

If Momwell is in-network with your insurance provider in your state, get started today and our care team will run a benefits check to find out what your plan covers and if there are any out of pocket costs.

When will I find out my total estimated therapy cost?

Cash Pay Services: Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133 - effective January 1, 2022), we are required to notify you of your federally protected rights against “surprise billing.” This act requires healthcare providers who do not bill insurance to provide consumers with a Good Faith Estimate showing the costs of services you can reasonably expect for your healthcare needs.

You will receive a Good Faith Estimate before your first paid session. This will provide you with your therapists hourly rate and the average duration of treatment. A Good Faith Estimate is for your awareness only and does not require immediate financial commitment or payment. You will be billed through the portal after each therapy session.

Insurance Services: During onboarding our care team will collect your insurance information and if we are in-network with your payor and your plan offers mental health coverage they will provide you with an estimated cost for each session based on your coverage. This amount is only an estimate as insurance providers change plans and coverage amounts from time to time. You will be notified via email if the actual amount differs in the event of a change and all appropriate adjustments will be made to the billing of your co-pay.
